No
need to ‘add’ fonts |
| |
Other
font managers make you ‘add’ fonts to the program in order for the
program to manage them. To add them, you need to navigate to the folders
where the font files are, which means you need to know where they all
are on your hard drive. FontRainbow does this job for you - all font
files on a drive are ‘added’ automatically. |

No
need to preview |
| |
Other
font managers show a list of face names in one window, which you need to
click on to see sample text in a separate ‘preview’ window. With FontRainbow,
sample text is visible all the time, for all fonts, with no clicking. |

Attributes, not sets |
| |
The method of
organizing a font collection is completely different from other
programs. Up to now, this has been done by providing a system of
folders, or ‘sets’, into which fonts are grouped. FontRainbow doesn't
use sets, it uses a filterable list. So, rather than viewing fonts one
group at a time, you can filter the list using one or more attributes
in any combination you like. This gives you a much more flexible and
powerful way to narrow down a potentially very large list to a handful
of fonts that match the characteristics you specify. |

We make your fonts easier to explore |
| |
FontRainbow
categorizes your fonts
by font family (Serif, Script, etc). We also measure each font and
categorize for weight and width as well. |
| 5 |
We respect your system! |
| |
Some font
managers, when adding to a structure of sets, move or copy font files on
your drive. We don't do this. FontRainbow maintains pointers to your
font files, but the files themselves are unaffected and stay where they
are. |
|

An Apple Mac version is planned for hopefully some time in 2009. |

| What
early users have said about FontRainbow... |
| "it is just a simple, wonderful piece of programming" |
| "I've spent a bit more time combining 2 font sources on one computer and looking for duplicates - I wouldn't have considered the task without FontRainbow." |
| "your program makes it so easy that you can be looking at one particular font and see one in the list that you think needs re-classifying and just do it." |
| "I have been playing with it, up till 5am last night LOL!!" |
